Cyprus NomadVisa 2026 — Banking Requirements Explained

The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa requires proof of sufficient remote income. Your bank statements are the primary evidence. Here’s what you need and how to prepare your banking documents.
Income Requirement for the Cyprus NomadVisa
As of 2026, the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa requires:
- Minimum income: approximately €3,500/month net (check current official requirements as this is subject to revision)
- Proof: typically 3 months of bank statements showing consistent income deposits
- Health insurance: required separately — not a banking issue, but factor it in
- Remote work proof: employment contract or client contracts confirming you work remotely
Which Bank Statements Are Accepted?
Revolut statements: Accepted. Download from the Revolut app: go to Account → Statements → select period → PDF. The statement shows your IBAN, transaction history, and running balance. This is fully accepted as proof of income for the NomadVisa.
Wise statements: Accepted. Download from wise.com or the app.
Traditional bank statements: Accepted from any recognised bank.
What the statement needs to show:
- Your name
- Account IBAN
- Transaction history showing regular income deposits
- Dates covering at least 3 months
- Amounts in EUR or your primary currency
Preparing Your Bank Statements
The key is to show consistent, verifiable income deposits over at least 3 months:
- If you are employed remotely: your salary should show as a regular monthly deposit from your employer
- If you are self-employed or freelance: client payments should show consistently throughout each month
- The total incoming deposits should clearly exceed €3,500/month net
If your income is irregular (common for freelancers), 6 months of statements rather than 3 provides a more convincing picture.
If Your Income Is in a Foreign Currency
If you earn in GBP, USD, or another currency and receive payments into Wise or Revolut:
- Download statements for the account where income lands
- The visa application should accept statements in any major currency
- EUR equivalent may be calculated at the time of application — strong foreign currencies (GBP, USD) work in your favour
Setting Up Your Banking Before Applying
If you’re planning to apply for the NomadVisa:
- Open Revolut immediately — you need 3 months of bank history showing consistent income. The sooner you start, the sooner you have the required history.
- Ensure income goes into one visible account — don’t spread income across multiple accounts in ways that make it hard to see total income clearly
- Avoid large unexplained withdrawals in the 3 months before your application — this doesn’t affect income, but makes statements cleaner
The Application Process — Banking Steps
The NomadVisa application is submitted at the Cyprus Civil Registry and Migration Department. You’ll need:
- Completed application form
- Valid passport (valid for at least 12 months beyond intended stay)
- 3 months bank statements (showing income above threshold)
- Proof of remote employment or freelance contracts
- Health insurance certificate (valid for Cyprus)
- Clean criminal record certificate (from your home country)
- Proof of accommodation in Cyprus (rental contract)
Once approved, the visa is initially valid for 12 months and is renewable.
After the Visa — Banking Setup
Once you have the NomadVisa and are physically in Cyprus, consider opening a local bank account. While not strictly required for the visa, it simplifies long-term living. AstroBank is our recommendation for nomads — most digital-friendly, international client focus.
